How Trade Assurance works

You order

Place any order. Trade Assurance is free and automatic — no opt-in required.

We hold

Your payment is held in escrow. The supplier doesn't get paid until you confirm delivery.

You inspect

Open the parcel within 14 days. Goods match? Great. Issue? Open a dispute from your dashboard.

We resolve

Refund, replacement or mediation — most disputes close within 5 business days. You\'re never out of pocket.

What's not covered

  • Damage caused after you've signed for and accepted the parcel
  • Change of mind on Class B (Direct Import) bulk orders — these are produced-to-order
  • Products customised to your specification (unless defective)
  • Off-platform transactions — communicating with a supplier outside our messaging voids coverage
  • Acts of God (natural disasters, port strikes) — but we still help you resolve where possible

How to open a dispute

  1. Go to Dashboard → Orders and find the order
  2. Click "Trade Assurance dispute"
  3. Choose a reason and attach photos/video evidence
  4. Submit — we acknowledge within 2 business hours
  5. Our mediation team reaches out to the supplier and reviews evidence
  6. Decision issued within 2 business days, paid out within 3 business days of approval
Pro tip: the more detail in your dispute — photos, video, weight measurements, packaging shots — the faster we resolve. Most well-documented disputes close in under 48 hours.

Frequently asked

Is Trade Assurance free?

Yes. There is no premium, no per-order fee. Cost is built into our supplier margin.

Does it apply to all three classes?

Yes — Class A (Ready to Ship), Class B (Direct Import) and Class C (SA Drop-Ship) all get the same protection.

How long is the dispute window?

14 days from delivery for most issues, 7 days for "missing parcel" reports. Manufacturer warranty claims fall outside Trade Assurance but are also covered separately.

What if the supplier disputes my claim?

BestDealz is the final arbiter. We review evidence from both sides and decide impartially. If we side with you, we pay you and recover from the supplier — never the other way around.

Does Trade Assurance replace SA Consumer Protection Act rights?

No — it sits on top of them. You still have the full 6-month implied warranty and all other rights under the CPA. Trade Assurance is just a faster, friendlier resolution path for most issues.
